Saint Francis Xavier Church - The Oratory
presents

The epic story of the Exodus from Egypt is a defining moment in the history of the Chosen People. The LORD God rescued the Israelites from the violence and oppression of slavery, formed them into a nation guided by His laws, and led them through the harsh desert to the land He had promised to Abraham and his descendants. For Jews and Christians alike, the Exodus remains a sign of God’s great love, a reminder of His providential care for His people.

For these reasons, the Church has long seen the testing of the Israelites in the wilderness as a fitting symbol of the spiritual battle and our pilgrimage toward Heaven. Aided by the insights of both the Fathers of the Church and modern scholarship, this Bible study series will reflect on the stages of the Exodus to draw lessons for daily living, as well as reasons for putting our hope and trust in God’s protection. Our forty days of Lent will be enriched by our sharing in the forty-year journey our spiritual ancestors took from slavery to freedom, from death to life.
